Rotary Spokes

The Brady Rotary Club met on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at the Caf’ at the Depot. Brian Wiggins, Presbyterian minister, was installed as the newest Rotary member. Bill Spiller was the guest of Dayton Boren. Frank Carmichael, Rotarian from Austin, and his mother, Cotton, were guests. Dr. Susan Delk, local dentist, was the guest of Mike Schaffner. Fourteen Rotarians who had perfect attendance in July were introduced by Connie Locklear. They were Jenagayle Behrens, Dayton Boren, Brad Bowen, Lee Coffman, Steve DeFiore, Clay Jones, Connie Locklear, Bill Mann, Wadena McAlister, Mac McWilliams, Jim Ricks, Bill Ricks, Orlando Rubio and Sandra Youree. Program chairman Caroline Parks gave a brief classification talk describing her years as a teacher and principal. After her talk she introduced Cynthia Quinn, RN, who is the Wesley nurse of the Methodist Church. She informed the members of her role as a nurse that is sponsored by the church to reach the under-served. She also helps those with diabetes, teenage pregnancies and the CHIPS program. Cynthia can be reached at the First Methodist Church. Rotarians will help at the ticket booth for the rodeo on Aug. 25 and will have a food booth at the Goat Cook-Off Sept. 1. The gift of the month was won by Bill Mann, a Rotary silver potpourri container. The $2 bill was won by Caroline Parks for knowing that the square “Richards Park” is the first one on the Brady Game Board. Program chairman for the Aug. 21 meeting is Rotarian Wayne Massey of Kerrville.
