James Willis (J.W.) Garner, 74, of Tomball and formerly of Lohn, died Saturday, Aug. 11 in the Tomball Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday (today) in the Klein Memorial Funeral Home in Tomball. Burial was in The Garden of The Savior at Klein Memorial Park. Born Jan. 1, 1927, in Stacy, he was the son of Joe Lee and Marie Estes Garner. Mr. Garner graduated from Lohn High School and was a veteran in the U. S. Army. For 23 years he served in the Texas Department of Public Safety and retired as a sergeant in the Texas Highway Patrol in 1981. After retirement, he was commissioned as a Special Texas Ranger. Mr. Garner owned and operated B&R Security Inc. in Tomball. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Pat; a brother, Wilburn Eugene (Sleepy) Garner and his wife, Arliss, of Brownwood; a sister-in-law, Mary McKie, and husband, James, of Wichita Falls; a son, Rocky Garner and his wife, Connie, of Houston; two daughters, Becky Christian and her husband, Steve, of Spring, and Toni Garner of Webster; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Texas DPS Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. The family requests memorials be made to the American Lung Association or a charity of choice.
