Rotary Spokes

The Brady Rotary Club met Tuesday, July 31 at noon at the Caf’ at the Depot. Mae McWilliams was the guest of husband, Mac. Also, Rev. Brian Wiggins was the guest of Mac. LeGrace DeFiore was the guest of husband, Steve. Betty and Marci Schaffner were the guests of husband and dad, Mike. James Stewart of the Brady Standard-Herald was a guest of the club. Ben Terry, Rotary ADG; and Miwes Baggett, wife of District Governor Rick, were also guests of the club. Miwes Baggett gave us information about the Hunger Plus Program that is sponsored by Rotary. She challenged our club to match her 5th grade class in San Angelo in giving. Rotary District Governor Dick Baggett of San Angelo presented a 75 Year Certificate to president Steve DeFiore, commemorating the Brady Rotary Club’s 75th birthday. In his message to the Rotarians and guests Governor Baggett emphasized the theme of Rotary'”Mankind Is Our Business.” He brought out the programs that Rotary is doing: Polio, Hunger Plus, Illiteracy, Adult Education and Matching Grants. He received a standing ovation for his talk and leadership. The $2 bill was won by Clair Whitesell for knowing the name of the new aviation company here: Carthan Aviation Service. Program chairman for Aug. 7 is Mac McWilliams.
