The Elm Grove Rodeo Association has announced its upcoming 50th anniversary rodeo event, scheduled Aug. 2-4 in Elm Grove with competition set to get underway at 8 p.m. each night. The rodeo is open to students in 12th grade and under and all rodeo contestants must have completed the previous school year. Rodeo events include high school bareback bronc riding, high school tie down roping, pee wee barrels (eight years and under) grade school boys calf riding, pee wee goat scramble (eight years and under) grade school girls barrels, grade school boys break-a-way roping, high school wild horse race, high school girls goat tying, grade school girls goat tying, high school girls barrels, high school ribbon roping and high school bull riding. Buckles, trophies and ribbons will be awarded to top participants. An open washer and horseshoe pitching contest will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with registration scheduled from 9-10 a.m. prior to the event. A barbecue dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
