Alexis L. Adams of Brady, was named as the 2001 recipient of the $1,200 Bryan Hunt Memorial Scholarship at the 86th Annual Convention of the Texas Sheep & Goat Raisers’ Association in Kerrville July 20. The daughter of Darby and Dalette Adams, Alexis graduated third in her class with a grade point average of 3.95 under a Recommended Advanced Diploma Plan. She has been involved in many activities, including FFA, Rotary Interact and Texas High School Rodeo Association. She was recently named an All-American Scholar and Rotary Student of the month. In addition, she received such honors as Texaco Star of the Week, Academic All-District, and Professional’s Choice National High School Rodeo Association Student Athlete of the Month. This is a very prestigious award, as the student of the month is chosen from approximately 10,000 RHSRA members across the United States and Canada. In a letter of recommendation for Alexis, her counselor stated, “We at Brady High School consider ourselves very fortunate to have had Alexis in our school. She was a leader in and out of the classroom and a great role model for our underclassmen. She added so much to our campus and was an asset to our community, also. Not only is she very deserving scholastically, Alexis is a self-motivated young lady who will achieve all her goals. She is a delight to be around, and you could not choose anyone more qualified.” Adams plans to attend West Texas A&M University in Canyon, TX, and major in Animal Science.
