Trio of 4-H shooters place in Brownwood invitational match

Three members of the McCulloch County 4-H rifle club participated in the Brownwood Invitational Rifle Match on June 30 against more than 50 other shooters and came away with several top honors. Nolan and Bodie Landes and Robert Tetens took to the range at this their third match of the year with this being their first air rifle competition. Tetens placed second in the senior 10-meter sporting air rifle class and first in senior silhouette air rifle class. Bodie Landes placed third in the junior air rifle while brother Nolan placed second in sub-junior air rifle and third in sub-junior silhouette. “This was the club’s first air rifle match and as you can see, we did very well, but we can still do better,” said club organizer Dr. Gene Nelson. “We have other shoots planned with the Travis County 4-H club at Manor, the UT rifle club in Austin and the Travis County Rifle Club also at Manor. “We still have a few openings on our BB gun, air rifle and .22 caliber rifle teams. If there are kids out there from 10-18 years-old and they are interested, all they have to do is call me at 597-1592.”
