Lee Roy Williams Kensing, 81, of Austin and formerly of Brady, died Tuesday, July 17. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Austin. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Live Oak Cemetery in Brady, under the direction of Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Mr. Kensing and his twin brother, El Roy, were born Dec. 16, 1919, in Menard County. He married Betty Latimer Kensing on Nov. 17, 1942 in El Paso. He lived most of his life in Brady and Austin, after being reared in Mason. A veteran of World War II, he retired in 1984 after 13 years with the State of Texas, Board of Control. He was a member of the Christ at Fairview Church of Christ in Austin. His hobby was woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Betty; three daughters, Jo Ann and Darlis Cummings of Buda; Ona and Fred Shoemake of Buda; Ima and Greg Chase of San Antonio; a brother, Richard Kensing and his wife, Mary Ruth, of New Braunfels; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ida Gross Kensing; two sisters, Emmy Bessett and Esther Jordan Hartmann; and four brothers, El Roy, Ernest, Seth and Wilburn (Mackie) Kensing.
