Kindergarten, Pre-K registration next week

North Ward Elementary will register children for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten on July 24 and July 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is for all students who have not previously registered for the 2001-2002 school year. To be eligible for pre-kindergarten, a child must be four years of age on or before September 1 of this year, and must qualify based on income or speak a language other than English as their home language. A birth certificate, Social Security card and current immunization record are the required documents needed to register a child. Proof of income or nine digit food stamp number is needed when qualifying based on income. Copies will be made at the time of registration, and originals returned to the parent at that time. To register for kindergarten, a child must be five years of age on or before September 1 of this year. A birth certificate, Social Security card and current immunization record are the required documents needed to register a child. Copies will be made at the time of registration, and originals returned to the parent at that time. For children who were in pre-kindergarten last year and plan to attend kindergarten this year, an update of records is necessary. This may also be accomplished on July 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first day of school will go more smoothly if all students are registered before the first day of school, which is Sept. 4.
