“The monthly meeting of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3234 was held at 7:30 p.m., July 10, at the Burton Kyle McCord Hall, located at 305 Memory Lane in Brady. There were 15 members present for this meeting including officers. Mark Day presented a picture of the late Burton Kyle McCord taken when he was attending West Point Military Academy. Also presented was a “rubbing” of Burton’s name from the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. The photograph was donated to the Post by Mrs. Beverly Lane, wife of Mr. Dennis R. Lane, Brady High School class of 1966. Mrs. Lane explained that the picture was given to her husband Dennis after McCord’s funeral, and further stated that the photo was on McCord’s casket during the funeral and had been presented to the Lane’s on the day of the funeral. McCord was serving with the U.S. Army in Vietnam when he was killed in action. The members of VFW Post 3234 wish to thank Mrs. Lane for her fine gesture in presenting these two items to the Post. The picture and the rubbing will be placed in a prominent place to allow others to see the person for whom the Post is named. The Post continues in its recruiting of new members who may wish to join the VFW. Membership applications may be obtained from the Post Commander, Leslie Tybo at 915-597-1513 or Leonard Westra at 915-344-5452 or by email at email@example.com.
