The Brady Lions Club’s weekly meeting June 28th at Cafe at the Depot was a very special one. As the last ‘official act’ of his term, Lions District 2-A1 Governor Al Owen installed the 2001-2002 slate of officers for our local organization. He also announced that, as of July 1st, the Brady Lions Club will be 66 years of age. The WE SERVE motto has been a part of Brady since 1935! Our incoming officers are: Lions Ronnie Gassiot ‘ Pres, Randy Richards – 1st. VP, Mike Barbour – 2nd VP, Steve DeFiore – 3rd VP, Louise Long – Secy, Donald Barley ‘ Treas, Wayne Rawlings ‘ Tail Twister, Eddie Cox ‘ Lion Tamer, John Roberts, Lynn Colville, C.D. The club will not meet this Thursday, July 5th, but will resume its weekly schedule at Cafe at the Depot with a business meeting at noon on Thursday, July 12th. A reminder to all those Lions listed above ‘ your first Board of Directors Meeting will be Monday, July 9th at 7:00am at Texas Corral. The patriotic banners are dressing up businesses in Brady for July Jubilee. Our thanks to all of the merchants who are participating with their donations. Your contributions enable us to continue our community service projects. Last, but not least, we had four guests at our last meeting. Lion John Stewart brought his wife Carole, Lion Gov. Al Owen brought his wife Billie, Lion Steve DeFiore brought his colleague Tom Hollingsworth, and yours truly brought his son (and our unofficial mascot) Cody.
