Dryer’s Grand Ice Cream is launching a nationwide search for kids who want to get an early start on a “cool” career. Pint-sized ice cream lovers are invited to enter Dreyer’s “Kid Ice Cream Taster Contest” for their chance to team up with John Harrison, Dreyer’s Official Ice Cream Taster, on one of the sweetest jobs around. Ten kids from across the United States will win an all-expenses-paid trip to the Dreyer’s Ice Cream Factory in the San Francisco Bay Area to demonstrate their tasting talent. In addition to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the factory, each child will put their tastebuds to the test on gallons of Dreyer’s top-secret flavors to ensure that families everywhere continue to scoop up the very best, “kid approved” ice cream. “Some people might think a job that involves eating ice cream is too good to be true’but I’m here to tell you that it really does exist,” said Harrison. “I have tasted more than 180 million gallons of ice cream during my sweet career and I’m looking forward to teaching the tricks of the trade to children who are passionate about ice cream.” Kids are invited to enter the Kid Ice Cream Taster Contest by submitting a short “job” application” (500 words or less) explaining, “Why I would be a great ice cream taster.” Contestants must be residents of the United States and between the ages of 6-14 as of May 1 to be eligible. Submissions can be made at www.conefactory.com or sent directly to: Kid Ice Cream Taster Contest, Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, 5929 College Avenue, Oakland, Ca. 94618. All entries must be postmarked or dated (if sent online) by August 31, 2001. For complete contest rules, kids can visit www.conefactory.com or send their request, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope, to Kid Ice Cream Taster Rules Request, Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, 5929 College Avenue, Oakland, Ca. 94618. Ten winners will be selected (based on the creativity, originality and enthusiasm of their entries) and notified on or about September 15, 2001. In early October, each winner (and up to three family members) will be invited to the Dreyer’s Ice Cream Factory in Union City, California to “scoop up” their reward. The all-expenses-paid trip will include a behind-the-scenes tour of the ice cream factory, a lesson on tasting tips from John Harrison, and, best of all, an opportunity to sample dozens of delicious ice cream flavors during a marathon tasting session. In additions, each child will also receive a year’s supply of ice cream to ensure that his or her tastebuds continue to get a workout throughout the year. Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc.
