Due to the extremely high fire conditions present this summer, the Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce, the Brady Volunteer Fire Department and the City of Brady request the public’s assistance in preventing fires over the July 4 holiday. “For the safety of everyone, we are asking the citizens of Brady to refrain from the use of fireworks during the Zambelli Internationale fireworks display on Tuesday, July 3 at Brady Lake,” said Chamber EVP DeLaine Poe. “Traffic congestion and pedestrian activity make a fast response to emergencies very difficult,” she explained. Also, igniting fireworks inside the city limits of Brady is a violation of City Ordinance No. 192. According to Police Chief John Stewart, all housing developments and parks that surround Brady Lake are within the city limits. He also stated that the Brady Police Department will be enforcing the ordinance. Citations will be issued to violators and they may be fined up to $200.
