Cassie Shuffield Boeker, 86, of Brady, died Wednesday, June 13 in Houston. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16 in Leatherwood Memorial Chapels, Dr. Billy Spencer, conducting. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery. Born Dec. 5, 1914, in Cameron, she was the daughter of James Ross Shuffield and Bell Elizabeth Griffen Shuffield. She married Rufus Fred Boeker on Oct. 30, 1935, in Cameron. Mrs. Boeker, who had been a Brady resident since 1936, worked as a meat wrapper for Safeway in Brady for 15 years and for JRB Grocery in Brady for 10 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brady. Survivors include a son, Winston Boeker and his wife, Sidair, of Houston; two sisters, Murl Osborne and Lexia Brock, both of Brady; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Fred; five brothers, Enoch, Buford, Albert, Thagard, and Oxsheer Shuffield; and a sister, Mable Terry.
