New officers for the Brady Independent School District Board of Trustees were elected Monday night during the regularly scheduled school board meeting. Elected to serve as officers for the upcoming school year were Michael Schaffner, president; Jason Jacoby, first vice president; Al Pearson, second vice president; and Amie Lott, secretary. The school board approved Bearl Lowery, CPA of Brownwood, as the independent auditor for the upcoming school year at BISD. According to Brady ISD Supt. Max Gordon, Lowery’s company has been employed as the school’s auditor for the last several years. The Student/Athletic Accident/Catastrophic Insurance Plan was approved by the school board Monday night as well. Texas Insurance Group of El Paso will be the insurance carrier this year for BISD. “This basically covers all of our students that are involved in UIL activities,” said Gordon. “The insurance is also offered at the beginning of the school year to all students as secondary insurance coverage.” In other business, the school board voted to hire two special education teachers for the upcoming school term. Mandy Hoelscher will be employed as a special education teacher at Brady Middle School, while Melissa Dalbert will fill the same position at Brady High School. In closing, Gordon added that budget workshops for the upcoming year will begin the second week of July. An exact time and date have yet to be determined but will be announced at a later date.
