Funeral services for Jesse Phillip Cummings, 85, of Elm Grove, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6 in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early. The Rev. Dean Snoddy, officiated. Burial was in Cox Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. Born Sept. 23, 1915, in Milburn to John and Pearl Jones Cummings, he married Irene Mitchel on Jun. 5, 1941, in Holt. Mr. Cummings was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Mercury American Legion and the Elm Grove Rodeo Association. He also was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Irene; three sons, Gerald Cummings and his wife, Glenda, of Garden City, Charles Cummings and his wife, Kitty, of Locker, and Billy Cummings of Elm Grove; two daughters, Marilyn Suber and her husband, Michael, of Richland Springs, and Lanell Parson and her husband, Kendall, of Goldthwaite; a brother, Andy Cummings of Milburn; 10 grandchildren, Amy Tucker, Stacy Garcia, Cody Cummings, Wiley Cummings, Zane Cummings, Monty Cummings, Bethany Suber, Theron Parson, Marla Cummings and Kelton Parson; and a great-grandson, Jaxon Tucker. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers were Cody Cum-mings, Zane Cummings, Wiley Cummings, Monty Cummings, Phillip Taylor and Joey Tharp.
