Summer track clinics feature one-on-one with area coaches

Kids looking to improve their personal athletic performance are encouraged to enroll in the first annual Heart of Texas Track Clinic scheduled June 28-30. Organized and directed by Brady head track coach Doug Holtzclaw and coach Larry Hoelscher, the clinic will feature individual instruction for athletes in many different disciplines. Coaches and accomplished athletes from across Central Texas will be instructing at the clinic giving one-on-one attention to clinic participants. “We have coaches who have had state champions in several different areas coming to instruct at the clinic,” said Holtzclaw. “This clinic is designed to spark some interest in the track program here in Brady and give those students a chance to improve on their skills.” Some of the coaches leading the clinics include Todd Raymond of Liberty Hill, coach of the 2000 state champion shot put and discus thrower; Glenn Petty of Abilene-Cooper who will coach sprints and pole vault; Lauri Whatley of Cisco-2001 2A state champion track coach who will instruct the triple and long jump; and Gary Speegle of Goldthwaite who has coached two state high jumpers.
