Karly Steffens, daughter of Karlton and Sandra Steffens of Brady, will represent Brady High School in the Miss Texas High School Pageant this weekend in San Antonio. According to pageant representatives, Karly and Jenna Behrens were both selected to represent Brady High School in the pageant; however, Jenna chose not to compete in the pageant. This marks the first tie ever recorded in the Miss Texas High School Pageant history. The Miss Texas High School Pageant is a scholarship pageant for junior girls in high school. Over $5,000 in scholarships will be awarded through the pageant. Participants will be judged on poise, interviews, personality and how active they are in high school. They can also compete in the optional talent competition and Miss Photogenic. The pageant will be held at the St. Anthony Hotel in San Antonio, June 8-10. “I wanted to be in the pageant mainly because this was the first opportunity for a Brady High School student to attend the pageant,” said Karly. Last year there were approximately 35 girls represented in the pageant.
