Sarah Elsie Gassiot, 94, of Brady, a longtime schoolteacher in Pear Valley and Lohn, died Monday, May 28 (her birthday) in Brady, Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 30 in the First United Methodist Church in Brady, the Rev. Sheldon Johnson, pastor, conducting. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery, under the direction of Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Born May 28, 1907 in Whon, she was the daughter of Elisha Winfield Bible and Cassie Emaline Bible. She married Thomas Cleg Gassiot on May 16, 1928, in Coleman. A longtime resident of McCulloch County, she taught school for 48 years in Pear Valley, Lohn and the Harlandale ISD in San Antonio. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brady. Survivors include a son, Ronnie G. Gassiot and his wife, Carol, of Brady; a granddaughter, Laurie Fleckenstein and her husband, Ricky, of Jasper; two great-grandchildren, Ramsey Cleg Fleckenstein and Rachel Erin Fleckenstein. A special caregiver was Eunice Day. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Pallbearers were Billy Turner, Gayle Doyal, Randy Richards, Ray Schultz, Nelson Solsbery and Klein Reed.
