There were more winners here at the annual Heart of Texas Dr. Harry C. Priess Memorial Day Golf Tournament over the recent holidays other than the champions. There were three shootouts following practice rounds on Friday. The first one made up of championship and president’s flights golfers was won by Alex Sedillo of Kyle. The runner-up was Karlton Steffens of Brady. Others in Shootout No. 1 were Michael Solis, Carl Crawley, Donald Kiesling, Corey Criswell, George Manly, Richard V. Roper Shootout No. 2, consisting of first and second flight golfers, was won by Erbey Valdez of Sterling City with Greg Nebel of Del Rio as the runner-up. Others in Shootout No. 2 were Rick Baskin, Boyd Finch, Ray Hawkins, Terry Virdell, Barry Owens, Marty Woodul, Davey Cornelius and Kenneth Anderson. Shootout No. 3, of golfers from the third flight and above, was won by Jim Bob Roddie of Brady with Rick Waldrop of Spicewood as the runner-up. Others in Shootout No. 3 included Dax Millsap, Joe Millsap, Jeff Alexander, Brad Childs, Doug Roberts, Don Ellis, Mike Gartman and Jack Roberts. Saturday’s long driving winner was Skip Priess. Closest to the pin on Saturday was Roddy Boggus while most accuracy on No. 5 was Chris Knowles on Saturday and Karlton Steffens on Sunday.
