Brady Junior High and High School coaches will once again sponsor a youth basketball camp this summer at Brady High School. The camps are available to third through eighth grade girls and third through ninth grade boys. The basketball camps will be held from June 4-27, and the girls’ camps will be broken up into three separate age divisions. The first camp for girls in grades three through five will be held June 4-8 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. During this session, emphasis will be placed on the basic fundamentals such as shooting, dribbling, passing, ball-handling, pivoting and defense. The second week of camp will be held June 11-15 and is designated for girls in grades six and seven. This camp is also offered from 9 a.m. to 12 noon each day but will be taught at a higher level to prepare the girls for the upcoming junior high basketball season. The third and final girls’ basketball camp will be held from June 18-22 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. This camp is designed to introduce, instruct and prepare next year’s freshmen class to the Brady “Lady Dawg” high school program. Drills, offenses, defenses, expectations, etc., will be covered through this camp. The cost for each girls’ camp is $25 per student. Contact Coach Epley at Brady High School at 597-2491 for more information. The boys’ basketball camp will be held from June 25-27 from 8-11:30 a.m. with registration scheduled to begin at 7:15 a.m. on Monday, June 25. The boys basketball camp is for grades three through nine, and cost to enter is $25 per camper of $40 for two. The goal of the camp is to instill the fundamental instruction of shooting, passing and dribbling. Emphasis will also be placed on the three step approach to shooting, live ball moves, shooting games and creating a shot off the pass and the dribble. Instructors for the boys’ camp are head boys basketball coach Shawn Dalbert and head assistant basketball coach Larry Hoelscher. Checks for the camp should be made payable to Shawn Dalbert/basketball camp.
