Rochelle ISD bids farewell to 2 longtime employees

After more than 20 years service in the Texas school system, Sara Myers and Patsy Baker are handing in their keys at Rochelle Independent School District. Mrs. Baker has been employed as the Rochelle school business manager for the past 22 years and previously worked with Sanderson ISD for six years. She graduated from Rochelle High School in 1947. Mrs. Baker and her husband, W.C., have four adult children, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Their son, Danny, is employed with Rochelle ISD; their daughter, Lydia Fuentes, is employed with Grape Creek ISD; their daughter, Barbara Landry, resides on her family ranch in Terrell County; and their other son, Tim, is employed with El Paso Natural Gas Co. and has recently moved to Castle Rock, Colo. Mrs. Myers has had 22 years in the Texas school system, with the last 12 years devoted to Rochelle ISD as the school secretary. She graduated from Rochelle High School in 1956. Mrs. Myers and her husband, Willie, have two adult children and five grandchildren. Their son, Brant, is the superintendent at Sonora ISD, and their daughter, Tammy Kirchhoff, is a coach and teacher in Falls City. Both Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Myers were employed by Sanderson ISD before joining the staff at Rochelle. Claylene Gossett will step in to fill the void left by Mrs. Myers, and Paula Wells will take over Mrs. Baker’s position. Both are current employees with Rochelle ISD. The retirees were treated to a going away party at the Caf’ at the Depot on Friday, May 18. Courtesy of all RISD employees, they were each given a water color painting of Rochelle High School.
