Graduation ceremonies Friday for Brady, Rochelle seniors

With two separate graduations scheduled on the same night in McCulloch County, 86 prospective seniors from Brady and 18 from Rochelle will soon embark on a new journey in life’a journey full of many different challenges and obstacles’but a journey well worth the wait. Brady’s graduation ceremony is set for Friday, May 25 at 8 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium and will highlight the top two graduates, Sarah Currie and Danielle Snodgrass. Sarah will graduate as class valedictorian with a 4.36 grade point average. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Currie. She plans to attend McMurry University and earn her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She then plans to pursue a master’s degree and go into educational research. She was a member of the National Honor Society, was the annual staff editor and participated in Rotary Interact, UIL spelling, computer science and computer applications. She was active in Future Teachers of America, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, Famed Brady Bulldog Band and mock trial. Sarah’s achievements include Who’s Who Among American High School Students; Rotary student of the month, Outstanding Students of America, Celebration of Excellence Award; FCCLA State Qualifier in Star events; FTA State Qualifier in Miss FTA competition; Regional Qualifier in spelling for three years, computer science for two years; Lions Honor Banquet for four years and finalist for Minne Stevens Piper Scholarship. Danielle Snodgrass will complete her high school career as senior class salutatorian with a GPA of 4.01. The daughter of Christie and Dennis Snodgrass, she plans to attend the University at Austin and hopes to acquire a degree in advertising. She was in basketball, track, cheerleading, student council and National Honor Society. She received the Who’s Who Multiple Year Award, the President’s Academic Award, Texaco Star of the Week, National English Merit and National Science Merit. Other BHS students averaging out the 2000-2001 school year in the top 10 of the senior class are: Alexis Adams, 3.95, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darby Adams; Katie Hines, 3.80, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Kucharski; Allison Allen, 3.79, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James Allen; Rhett Behrens, 3.77, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Behrens; Zane Brandenberger, 3.65, son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Brandenberger; Jennifer Morgan, 3.63, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Morgan; Jeff Bowden, 3.60, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Bowden; and Aaron Browning, 3.57, daughter of Mrs. Teresa Browning. H Rochelle High School’s graduation ceremony will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 25 on the Hornet football field. Gina Baker, daughter of David and Teresa Baker, will graduate as class valedictorian with a 3.96 GPA. After graduation, she plans to attend college at Angelo State University. She wants to graduate with a degree in business. She was active in basketball, tennis, track, one act play and cheerleading. Her outstanding achievements and awards are Who’s Who in Sports, Who’s Who Among High School Students, Newcomer of the Year in Basketball (freshman year), Most Valuable Basketball Player of District (three years), All Regional Basketball (three years), All State Basketball, All State Academic Basketball Team, Six-man All Star Basketball, regional qualifier track (four years), high point girl at district track meet, regional qualifier in tennis (three years), Lions Honor Banquet (four years), LCRA Leadership Conference, Homecoming Queen nominee, Football Sweetheart and Miss RHS. Cristin Eckert, the 2001 salutatorian for RHS with a GPA of 3.89, is the daughter of David Eckert and Connie Thannisch. She plans to attend Angelo State University and receive her bachelors degree. She wants to study business marketing and major in that field. She was a cheerleader, participated in track, FFA, one act play and basketball. She is listed in Who’s Who, was a member of the National Honor Society, served on the student council, attended the LCRA Leadership Conference, received the highest average certificate for her class and attended the Lions Honor Banquet for four years. Other students graduating from Rochelle are Lacy Singleton, Brandon Roberts, Zane Morris, Ricky Teague, Mindy Roberts Morgan, Zachary Zapata, Belinda Gonzales, George Karnes, Tamara Barr, Cody Morgan, Jerry Estes, Tomasita Zapata, Shelly Cook, Stephanie Howell, Jessica Castillo and Tina Jackson.
