Sarah Louise Cammareri Thorn-ton, 44, of West Columbia, died Tuesday, April 24 in Houston. Her husband, Tom Thornton, is a former Brady man. A funeral mass was held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Services were under the direction of Baker Funeral Home of West Columbia. Born in Port Arthur, she was a 1974 graduate of Jefferson High School in Port Arthur and later received a bachelor’s degree in education from Lamar University in Beaumont. She was a teacher at Henry O. Tanner and Brazoria Elementary Schools for 15 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brazoria. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Brazoria. Survivors include her husband of nine years, Tom Thornton, of West Columbia; a daughter, Brittany Tanner of West Columbia; three stepsons, Seth Thornton of Denton, Josh Thornton of College Station and Jonathan Thornton of Brownwood; her parents, Sam and Helen Camma-reri of Beaumont; and two brothers, Vincent Cammareri and his wife, Debra, of Austin, and John Carl Cammareri and his wife, Lynn, of Chicago, Ill.; and a number of relatives and friends. A Sarah Cammareri Thornton scholarship fund has been set up at the St. Catherine Catholic Church School, 3840 Woodrow Dr., Port Arthur, Tex. 77642.
