May is National Foster Care Month, a time to honor America’s foster parents and the vital role they play in the battle against child abuse and neglect. Foster parents provide safe, loving homes for children who have been abused or neglected. Today, as more children fall victim to abuse and neglect, the role of foster parents and the need for good, loving foster homes has never been greater. “We are appreciative of all of our foster parents throughout the year, but May is the month designated to give special attention and appreciation to our foster parents,” said Iris Hall a foster home/adoption recruiter with Children’s Protective Services. “If you know foster parents, let them know they are special and give them a big “thank you,” for being foster parents.” To find out more about foster parenting, contact the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, Children’s Protective Services or the toll-free Foster Care and Adoption inquiry line at 1-800-233-3405.
