After weeks of campaigning for votes in Brady and McCulloch County, candidates running in the May 5 election for placement on either the Brady City Council or Brady Independent School Board will finally get the answers they’ve all been anxious to hear’in or out. On the ballot for Place 4 for the Brady City Council, Jesse Castanuela, Barbi Jones and Rick Melcer are each seeking the position. In Place 5, incumbent Donald Barley will try to keep challenger Dub Smith from ousting him from the chair. On election day, voting will be held at City Hall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In the election for the three positions being challenged for the board of trustees on the Brady Independent School District, voters in districts 2,4 and 6 will be required to vote at their respective locations. The candidates for the election are Andy McBee and Joseph Jordan for District 2, incumbent Al Pearson and Monte Owens for District 4 and incumbent Jason Jacoby and Leslie Schumann in District 6. The school board election will choose trustees to serve three-year terms in each of the single-member districts. If you do not know what district in which you reside, you may find out by contacting Deena Moore at the tax office or Nancy Short at the BISD administration office. A voter registration card or photo identification will be required at all polling places for the upcoming elections.
