Gov. Rick Perry proclaimed the week of April 8-14, 2001 as Telecommunicator Week in Texas to recognize the men and women who serve their communities by answering telephone calls for emergency help. The following dedicated telecommunicators daily serve the citizens of McCulloch County by answering their telephone calls for police, fire and emergency medical services and by dispatching the appropriate assistance as quickly as possible: Evelyn Rutherford, Laura Russell, Angela Henderson, Charlotte Hiltbrunner, Ronnie Russell and Beth Mosier. These individuals are the link between the public seeking help and those who will provide this help. Often working long hours under extremely stressful conditions, they are the county’s unsung heroes, responsible for protecting life and property while often not receiving the credit they deserve.
