4-Hers participate in training, contest

Fifty 4-H adult leaders from across the 23 counties that make up District 7 were present to receive training on the new 4-H Record Book. McCulloch County 4-H leaders attending the meeting were Dottie Carlson, Wendy Jones, Sheryl Ranne and Jacque Behrens. Leaders received training on the 4-H Record Book System. Seven McCulloch County 4-Hers participated in the District 7 Consumer Judging Contest. The Junior Team placed sixth out of 14 teams competing in this event. Junior team members were Erica Reeves, Jake Cortez, Lacey Sawyer, Jameson Leatherwood and Zachary Jones. The Intermediate team received second place out of 14 teams. Team members were Wendee Carlson, Glenn Van Dyke and Jay Behrens. Wendee Carlson was first High Individual in the Intermediates. Team coaches were Wendy Jones, Dottie Carlson and County Agent, Jane Holubec. The 4-H Consumer Life Skill project teaches 4-Hers how to make wise decisions when shopping. Project activities focus on the economy, money management, consumer right and responsibilities and the environment. This year 4-Hers studied bottled water, ATM cards, paper towels, luggage, online shopping and toothpaste.
