Melvin gets ready for exes’ reunion

The 2001 Melvin School homecoming will be held April 20-22 in Melvin. The activities will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at the Melvin Fire Station. A light meal of sandwiches, dips and chips will be served at 6 p.m. in addition to lots of visiting, dominoes and games that will be available. Anyone wishing to bring a dessert is encouraged to please do so. Registration will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. at the fire station, and the registration fee will be $5. A barbecue lunch will be served from 12 noon to 2 p.m. by Mac’s Barbecue. Brisket and all the trimmings will be served for $5.50 per plate. Tickets will be on sale at the time of registration at the fire station. The business meeting will begin at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. Billy Joe Ferris of Melvin, president of the 2001 reunion, will call the meeting to order and guests will be recognized and plans for the 2002 reunion will be made. Sunday morning breakfast will be served at the fire station by the Melvin Volunteer Fire Department. A short devotional will be given by Rev. Roy Clements. There are several RV sites, electrical and water on the old baseball diamond that will be available on a first come, first serve basis for $10 per night.
