Lady Bulldog golfers second at Llano, Bulldogs are third

The Brady girls’ golf team had their best tournament of the season as they finished second at Llano. The team score of 401 was ahead of third place Burnet which shot 463. “Our girls and the Burnet girls ahve been close this year,” said coach Tim Kilgore, “but they didn’t have an answer for Amy today.” Amy Pearson won the medalist honors with a sizzling 75. The next best score was an 81 from Rachel Feist of Llano. Calli Koe Shelby shot a 98 followed by Kristin Lundgren with a 105 and Chelsea Rutherford with a 123. “We’re still working on peaking at district,” added Kilgore. “I’m proud of the girls’ progress this season.” Other team scores were Llano 370, Liberty Hill 510, Cherokee 526 and Ingram 472. The district golf tournament is Tuesday, April 10 in Brady and Thursday, April 12 in Llano. “We are still needing individuals Tuesday morning to follow a group and keep score for the district tournament. If anyone is interested, please call the golf shop to sign up.” H The Brady boys played their best round of the season finishing third with a 324. The black team from Brady also played well finishing fourth with a 342. “The Llano course played longer because the rough and the fairways were very shaggy. I was proud of the way the guys adjusted.” Tim Walker 79, Jim Bob Shelby 80 and Mike Gutirrez 80, all finished in the top 12. Other Bulldog scorers were: Joe McKnight 97, Ben Cruz 81, Chris Vandine 84, Casey Long 89, Justin Morgan 87, Vic Cruz 86 and jeff Bowden 93. Other school scores were: Llano, 306 (winner of the playoff) Burnet 306, Wimberley 355, Burnett B team 359, Ingram 358, Liberty Hill 360, Ingram B team 432 and Cherokee 527. “We have some serious ground to make to catch up with Llano and Burnet, but the crazy thing about golf is anything can happen,” said Kilgore.
