From antique cars to sports cars and yes, even race cars , if its got four wheels, a luscious paint job and a proud owner, it can be expected this weekend as the Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce kicks off the first annual Car Show/Swap Meet. Scheduled for Saturday, April 7 at Richards Park, the Car Show/Swap Meet is a family oriented event organized with the help of several local car enthusiasts. The Chamber is expecting an estimated 75 vehicles for display on Saturday along with arts and crafts vendors, food vendors and swap meet vendors. “Whether you are a car fanatic or not, there will be something for everyone this weekend,” said Chamber EVP DeLaine Poe. Kicking off the event will be “crusin’ night” at Sonic on Friday beginning at 8 p.m. “We invite everyone to come join us as the different makes and models make their appearance Friday night at the ‘pre-show’ gathering.” Judging on Saturday will be done by “peoples choice” which means that the public will decide the winner. Ballots will be available at the entrance and votes may be cast at the ballot boxes. Winners will be announced during the awards presentation set to begin at 5 p.m. Saturday. Random drawings for door prizes will be held all day for different items donated by local businesses. The Chamber directors will be selling raffle tickets for a set of Ping 13 golf clubs and a go-cart to raise money for this year’s fireworks display. In conjunction with the Car Show/Swap Meet, the Chamber will sponsor a sock hop Saturday evening from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. under the park pavilion. The public is invited to attend the event, and admission is free.
