The Howard Kilmer Post 510 of the American Legion and Auxiliary celebrated the American Legion birthday when they met for their regularly scheduled meetings on Tuesday, March 13 at the Post home in Mercury. The hostesses, Sadie Cawyer and Fay Knutson, had decorated the serving table with a patriotic them and the birthday cake was decorated in red, white and blue. The hostesses served a delicious meal to 18 members and guests. Tony Long, commander, and Fay Knutson, president, conducted the individual business meetings. The auxiliary charter was draped in memory of deceased member, Jo Blackwell. A love offering for the cancer research fund was collected in her memory. June Long, secretary, reminded all auxiliary members of the change of time in the April meeting due to daylight savings time being in effect. The next regularly scheduled business meetings for the Legion and Auxiliary will be April 10 at 8 p.m. at the Post home in Mercury. The social hour will begin at 7 p.m.
