Curtis Clayton Jones, 70, of Brownwood, died Sunday, April 1 in a Brownwood nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. Ron Cook, officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery. A lifetime resident of Brown County, he was a member of the Mercury Baptist Church where as a young boy, age 13, he began leading the singing for his church. He continued to lead singing for the next 50 years and became a deacon in the church. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Fay Jones of Brownwood; two sons, Brian Keith and his wife, Brenda, of Ronan, Mont., and Buck Andrew Jones and his wife, Darlene, of Brownwood; two daughters, Brenda Joy Miller and her husband, Alvin, of Weimar, and Choice Lorrie Jones Parks of Midland; a sister, Nola Faye Downing of Brownwood; a brother, Leland Banks of Brownwood; and five grandchildren. His was preceded in death by his parents, Buck Andrew Jones and Carrie Fikes Jones, two brothers, Marshal Banks and Miles Banks and a sister, Beuna Banks Nowlin.
