The Brady Bulldogs tracksters took fifth place at Early’s Longhorn Relays last Saturday, scoring 69 points. The Brady JV won their divison. Early won the varsity title, scoring 129 points. Bangs was second at 114, followed by Baird at 80, and Ballinger at 79. Trailing the Bulldogs were May 31, DeLeon 21, Cisco 20 and Goldthwaite 10. Sophomore distance runner Montie King notched two second-place finishes in his specialties, the 3200-meter run and the 1600-meter run. “We had a number of personal bests at Early. I thought both of our boys’ teams competed well,” coach Doug Holtzclaw. The JV boys won another meet. In this one, the team racked up 132 points. They were followed by Bangs 96, Ballinger 86, Cisco 79, Goldthwaite 53, Early 51, Zephyr 24, DeLeon 20, Panther Creek and Baird. In the JV division, the Bulldogs copped two individual first places and two relays. The 400 relay team was composed of Jeremy Shields, Chris Airheart, Lance Owens and Carter McBee. On the mile relay team were C.J. Villegas, Chris Airheart, Cole Whisenhunt and McBee. Individual winners were Chris Airheart in the 400-meter dash and McBee in the 300-meter hurdles. The Bulldogs will be in Wall Friday for the annual Cotton Patch Relays as the teams keep gearing up for the District 26-3A meet in Wimberley on April 7-8.
