‘Jackets hammer Bulldogs in district baseball opener

Brady’s Bulldogs took it on the chin here Tuesday night when the Llano Yellowjackets stung them with a 14-0 baseball victory in the opening game of District 26-3A. The loss dropped the Dogs to 1-6 on the season. They are 0-1 in district play. “Llano has a really fine ball club. They jumped on us early, scoring three runs, then continued to add to that total through the next three innings,” Brady coach Nathan Head-rick said. The ‘Jackets’ starting pitcher, Daniel Rusche, controlled the Brady bats, allowing the Dogs only three hits. Rusche went five innings with a relief thrower finishing up the five-inning game that was halted by the 10-run rule. “It seemed that everything they did was successful, and everything we did was bad,” the Brady coach said. The Bulldogs made eight errors, while Llano did not commit a single one. “It’s difficult to beat a good team when we made so many mistakes,” Headrick said. Catcher Zane Brandenberger had Brady’s only extra base hit, a double. Getting the other hits for the Dogs were Zach Brown and Canuto Ledezma, each with singles. Blake Raybion went the distance as the Brady pitcher, allowing 9 earned runs on 13 hits. He struck out three and walked two. The Bulldogs will host Burnet in a 7 p.m. game Friday.
