The Brady Lions Club’s monthly business meeting was held last Thursday. The rainy weather kept some members away, but 18 of the stalwarts enjoyed a good meal and made decisions for the others. The two most important topics of discussion were the report of the Nominating Committee and a progress report on the Lions Honor Banquet. The nominated slate of officers and directors for the fiscal year beginning July 1 is: President Ronnie Gassiot; Vice Presidents Randy Richards, Barbara Bolton and Stephen DeFiore; Secretary Louise Long; Treasurer Donald Barley; Lion Tamer Mike Barbour; Tail Twister Wayne Rawlings; and Directors John Roberts, Lynn Colville, C.D. Hilliard and Lee Coffman. Ex-officio members of the Board will be the immediate Past President Dr. Lonnie Pollard and Secretary-Emeritus T. Wood. The election for officers and directors will take place at the business meeting on April 5th, with nominations from the floor being accepted at that time. The Nominating Committee report was given by Chairman Lion Robert Barnhill, on behalf of himself and the other committee members, Lions Larry Smith and Wayne Rawlings. Plans are well under way for the Lions Honor Banquet on Monday, March 26 at 7:00 PM at the Brady Civic Center. Over 120 McCulloch County high school students will be honored for their academic achievements. Tickets for family and friends are available only in advance at Brady Standard-Herald, KNEL, Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Pollard’s office, Rick Melcer Associates and Cafe-at-the-Depot, as well as at the offices of Brady, Lohn and Rochelle High Schools. Ticket sales will end on March 19.
