McCulloch students honored Monday at annual Lions Banquet

This year’s annual Lions’ Honor Banquet will be held Monday, March 26 at 7 p.m. at the Heart of Texas Civic Center. Parents and friends of honored students are encouraged to get their tickets early. The Cooper Fiddlers from Abilene Cooper High School will be the featured entertainment for the evening. The group has just recently recorded a new CD and music video. They are booked for engagements from Corpus Christi to Amarillo. In February of 1998, they performed with Sony Classical recording artist and famous fiddler Mark O’Connor in San Antonio at the Texas Music Educator’s Association Convention. They were also invited to Russia for the International Junior Olympics and they have also traveled to Branson, MO. to open the show for the Country Tonight Theatre. Tickets for this year’s honor banquet are $10 per person and are available at each of the high schools in the county. Tickets can also be purchased at the following locations: Brady Standard-Herald, Caf’ at the Depot, Rick Melcer Associates, Dr. Lonnie Pollard’s office, KNEL radio and the Chamber of Commerce. Raffle tickets are also now being sold for chances at two Brady shopping sprees valued at over $300 each. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from any Lions Club member or at the door. Each purchased ticket gives the ticket holder two chances to win prizes.
