Richland Springs student receives national honor

The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Mary (Katie) Cordle Jennings from Richland Springs has been named a United States National Award Winner in Mathematics. This award is a prestigious honor very few students can ever hope to attain. In fact, the Academy recognizes fewer than 10 percent of all American high school students. Katie, who attends Richland Springs Junior High, was nominated for this national award by Dan Burleson, a teacher at the school. She will appear in the United States Achievement Academy Official Yearbook, which is published nationally. Katie is the daughter of Bill and Trisha Goode and the late David E. Jennings from Richland Springs and Brownwood. Her grandparents are Ben and Mary Cummings of Richland Springs and the late J.L. Jennings and Shirley Jennings of Brownwood, and also Wayne and Marti Carr of Brady.
