Only three business days remain for interested Bradyites to file for a place on the City Council. As reported by Brady City Secretary Christi McAnally, only two individuals have filed for the open positions; Jesse Castanuela for Place 4, currently held by Jack Browning, and incumbent Donald Barley for Place 5. The deadline for filing is Wednesday, March 21 with election day scheduled for May 5. Early voting will run from April 18 through May 1 in the city secretary’s office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Votes may be cast from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at City Hall on election day. Three positions will be on the ballot in the Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital’s board of directors election slated for May 5. Posts open include Precinct 2, currently held by Jeanagayle Behrens; Precinct 4, held by Ila Mitchell; and an at-large seat held by Dr. Richard Lane. Applications are now being accepted. Deadline for filing is 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 4. Lane has filed for his at-large post, Verona Sephus Garner has signed up for the Precinct 2 position and Raymond Torres has filed for the Precinct 4 position, according to Ms. Deans.
