George Earl Benbow, 70, of Anahuac and formerly of Brady, died Tuesday, March 6 at the Bayside Community Hospital in Anahuac. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Anahuac. Born May 17, 1930, in Galion, Ohio, to John and Myra Fletcher Benbow, he is a former resident of Brady. He had lived in Anahuac the the past six years. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Benbow married Carol Ann Hathaway. They moved to Texas in 1960 when he became the program director of West Texas Boys Ranch near San Angelo. He was active in the San Angelo community, serving as service club director at Goodfellow Air Force Base in 1967. He was a member of the Galion (Ohio) Masonic Lodge AF & AM and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite in Waco. Survivors include a daughter, Laura Beimer and her husband, Glen, of Anahuac; two sons, Michael Benbow and his wife, Melinda, of Brady, and Matthew Benbow of Dallas; a brother, Ted Benbow of Florida; two sisters, Alice Clark of Hawaii and Barbara Snyder of Alabama; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
