Yantis Dudie (Y.D.) Dodd Sr., 84, of Brady, died Wednesday, Feb. 21 at the Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 in Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady. Burial followed in Cox Cemetery in Mercury. Born Jan. 14, 1923, in Strong City, Okla., he was the son of Monty Dodd and Annie Nora Newson Dodd. He was a self employed masonry contractor for over 30 years. He and his wife operated the Mercury Grocery Store for 10 years. A lifelong resident of the area, he attended the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Yantis D. Dodd Jr., and his wife, Mickie, of Cedar Park, and Glenn Ray Dodd and his wife, Donna, of Pasadena; a daughter, Peggy Zeruba of Alvin; three step-daughters, Emma Ruth Stock and her husband, Robert, of Odessa, and Willie T. Wood and her husband, Thomas, and Ronnie Lou Davis and her husband, Gary, all of Midland; a sister, Joyce Marie Morgan of Austin; 11 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ethel Broussard Dodd, a sister and two brothers.
