Bulldogs open baseball season with loss to Eagles

In its 2001 baseball opener here last Friday night, the Junction Eagles topped the Brady Bulldogs, 12-8. “I didn’t know exactly what we had until we played someone,” coach Nathan Headrick said Monday. “But it appears we have to find some pitching.” The Dogs made the playoffs last season for the first time since baseball became a sport in Brady High School eight years ago. But his season pitching is Headrick’s major concern. Canuto Ledezma opened on the mound for the Doggies and did an excellent job, going 3.1 innings, giving up only two unearned runs. “We still are looking for more pitchers would of Michael Gutierrez, Luke Price, Blake Raybion and Zach Brown,” the coach said. Brown supplied most of the bat work for Brady. He slammed a two-run home run in the opener. The team was back in action Monday night in Mason.
