Celebrating its 31st consecutive year as the Famed Brady Bulldog Band’s primary fund-raiser, the annual band auction will be filling the airways this weekend with hopes of setting new fund-raiser records. The increasingly popular auction will be hosted by KNEL radio and Classic Cable Channel 11 will air video footage of auction items to give prospective bidders a view of what items will be auctioned. The annual FBBB auction will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. and continue through 5 p.m. and items such as the survivor luau sponsored by the band boosters are high on the list for many potential bidders. The event, formerly known as the mystery dinner, will be held toward the end of June, and groups of up to six couples will have a chance at placing a bid during Saturday’s auction. Last year the band raised $14,600 through the event and according to event organizer and Band Booster President Pam Hernandez, “we hope to reach $15,000 in total earnings this year.” Donated auction items can be dropped of at KNEL radio station on Friday, Feb. 9 or at the Brady National Bank Community Room on Saturday. Volunteers will hold and organize the items until they are needed throughout the day for the auction. Sonic Drive-In proprietor Javier Paniagua will be donating half of the proceeds raised during business hours on Saturday to the bands operating fund. In return, band members will be participating in the day’s work at the restaurant to help facilitate efficient service and to show their appreciation to Sonic for its continued support. Band Boosters have recruited many items ranging from baked goods to chances at the survivor luau. For more information about donating, contact Mrs. Hernandez at 597-2020 or Teresa Adams at 597-0135 or tune in to KNEL Saturday morning at 95.3 FM. Bids for the auction can be placed by phone at 597-2119, 597-1925, 597-7391 and 597-4648. All phone lines will be answered at KNEL on Saturday, and no faxed bids will be accepted this year.
