North Ward hosts ‘Parents as Teachers’

North Ward Elementary School will hold a “Parents as Teachers” meeting on Monday, Feb. 26 from 12-1 p.m. in the North Ward library. The “Parents as Teachers” meetings are informal meetings, and those who plan to attend are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch. This month’s topic is “Reading Aloud.” Some of what will be discussed includes: the reading facts of life; becoming a nation of readers’how to help at home; how reading to your child will make he/she a reader later on in life; when to stop reading aloud to children; Dr. Seuss books; what motivates readers; who reads the best in the world and why; reading to infants and toddlers and reading websites for parents and teachers. Questions will be addressed, and all interested parents or care givers of young children are welcome.
