Olene Floyd, 91, of Austin and formerly of Brady, died Friday, Jan. 26 in Austin. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29 in the First United Methodist Church of Brady, the Rev. Sheldon Johnson, conducting. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Heart of Texas Funeral Home of Brady. Born June 18, 1909, in Lampasas, she married Arthur H. (Red) Floyd on Dec. 29, 1943, in Lampasas. He died on Sept. 11, 1976. A longtime resident of Brady, she moved to Austin two years ago. She was a school teacher and librarian at Brady Junior High School for 39 years, retiring in 1969. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brady where she was a longtime member of the choir. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Charter No. 167, a member of the Lydia Circle of the church and a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include a son, Robert A. Floyd, and his wife, Sherry, of Austin; two grandchildren, Leslie Floyd of Austin and Kimberly Floyd Ferguson and her husband, Troy, of Camp Verde, Ariz.; a sister, Bea Ellis of Lampasas; and several nieces and nephews.
