John A. Parker, 58, of Lampasas died Tuesday, Jan. 23 at the V.A. Hospital in Temple. Funeral services will be held Friday (today) at 1 p.m. at Briggs Gamel Funeral Chapel in Lampasas, Dr. Stephen Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors. Born Oct. 20, 1942, in Brady to Leslie A. Parker and Beatrice Roberts Parker, he married Cynthia Lincycomb on July 1, 1978, in Lampasas. He was a general contractor and served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam from March 1964 to March 1966. He was a member of the VFW Post 8577 in Copperas Cove and had lived in Lampasas since 1977. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Parker, of Lampasas; two sons, Adrian Burney of Gatesville and Heath Parker of Lampasas; his mother, Beatrice Parker of Lampasas; a brother, Leslie A. Parker of Sherman; two sisters, Elaine Brown of Copperas Cove and Kathie Andrews of Lampasas; and a grandchild, Levi Burney. He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Allen Parker; his first wife, Betty; and a son, John Bryon Parker.
