Fourth quarter surge gives Brady 7th girls win, 36-20

Despite the attack of a much-improved team from Liberty Hill, the Brady seventh grade girls’ A team used a strong fourth quarter to seal up yet another victory, 36-20. The Brady squad jumped out to an early 11-4 lead in the first quarter but backed off in the second. They led 15-7 at the half and struggled through the third period before the offense came back to life. A 15-5 run in the final minutes of the game kept the game out of reach for the hosting Texans. “The statement I made earlier about every team improving in the second half of the season came true,” said coach Mickey Holloway. “We played a much-improved Liberty Hill team. The girls played hard, but had a hard time keeping Liberty Hill from scoring. We had a slow second and third quarters but were able to pull it out in the fourth.” Lauren Pittman was the high point scorer with 13 followed by Erica Quintero with 10. Other scorers were: Erica Longoria 7, Tiffany Williams 2, Callie Young 1 and Monique Holloway 3. Score by quarters: Brady 11 4 6 15’36 L. Hill 4 3 8 5’20 The next game for the 7th girls will be Monday, Jan. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
