Bulldogs drop 84-43 decision to Wimberley

Facing one of the toughest teams in the district at their place, the Brady Bulldogs took it on the chin last Friday night at Wimberley, 84-43. The loss dropped the Dogs to 1-3 in league play while the Texans are tied with Liberty Hill for second as Llano is the leader. “There is no doubt that they have a fine ball club with skilled players,” Brady coach Shawn Dalbert said. “They shot well from all over the court and displayed a lot of quickness.” The Texans took control early and led at the end of the first period, 26-12. It was 45-19 at intermission. “They have a senior team, and they don’t make many mistakes. When a club does that, you usually end up paying with a loss,” the Brady coach said. The Bulldogs, Dalbert said, were rattled early, “but they fought hard. We’re getting there though.” Shawn Borchert led the scoring for the Bulldogs with 18 points. Johnny Menefield contributed 10. Brady continues its extended road games this week with Tuesday’s game at Llano and Friday’s at Burnet. “When the second round begins on Jan. 30, we’ll have all but one game at home,” the coach said.
