Lady JV Dogs rip Warriors, 52-28

With their district record still without a blemish, the Lady Bulldog junior varsity team put their best foot forward Tuesday night and soundly defeated the Ingram Lady Warriors, 52-28. The win boosted their overall record to 10-6 and their district record to 4-0. Defense was the key to the one-sided victory as Kelsey Bailey, Meagan Schaffner and Stacy Lohn led the charge against the Warrior offense. “The ladies did a good job last night,” said coach Chris Wienecke. “We had a great defensive game from Kelsey, Meagan and Stacy. Kelsey had some good passes that set up other teammates so they could score. If this team will put together four quarters of basketball, they will be totally awesome.” Leading the charge against the Ingram defense, Krystal Borchert racked up 15 points followed by Tallie Wright’s nine. Other scorers were: Erin Rainey 1, Erica Hernandez 4, Chelsea Rutherford, Meagan Schaffner 4, Ashley Salinas 6 and Stacy Lohn 7. Brady took the Warriors by the horns in the first quarter and jumped out to a 12-4 lead. A 10-8 second maintained their lead somewhat, but a massive 18-5 scoring blitz in the third gave the Doggies control of the game for good. The final period consisted of maintaining their lead as they edged the Warriors 12-11 in the final period to seal the 52-28 victory. Score by quarters: Brady 12 10 18 12’52 Ingram 4 8 5 11’28
