The Brady Fire Department and the Brady Volunteer Fire Department are currently testing hydrants in and around the city of Brady. These tests are a necessary part of the records that are required of the department for Insurance Services Organization (ISO) inspections. A lapse of documentation in the past has made this an important issue with the local departments and they are asking all citizens to be patient and cooperative with personnel as this task is carried out. ISO requires that all fire hydrants be tested twice a year and that they be painted, checked for leaks, flowed to remove sediment and tested for volume and pressure. Once hydrants have been tested, they will be color coded in relation to output to assist firefighters when selecting a water source. Citizens are asked to avoid driving or walking through water being sprayed from hydrants as they are being tested.
