The Brady Lady Bulldogs ran into a “buzz saw” here Friday night in the opening game of District 26-3A when Llano clipped the Lady Dogs, 51-24. “Llano is playing the best ball in the district right now,” Brady coach Ted Epley said. “And they took it to us.” The Lady Yellowjackets held an 11-8 margin after the first period but stretched that to a 25-13 lead at intermission. The onslaught continued in the second half as Llano outscored Brady, 12-4 and 14-7 in the final two quarters. “I thought we played them tough for 2 1/2 quarters. We were down 10 and had the ball with three minutes left in the third quarter, had a wide open three-pointer that would have cut it to seven points. But we missed the shot,” Epley said. He said he believes that if the shot had gone in the game’s outcome would have been different. Llano went on a 10-0 run late in the third period which spelled Brady’s doom. “We’re okay, though. We’ve got the best team in the league behind us and we’re still in the hunt for a playoff berth. We’ve just got to take care of business with the other four teams in the district,” he said. The Lady Dogs will host Burnet here Tuesday (tonight). “It’s a must-win game for us,” Epley said. “But not a do-or-die game.” “If we put too much pressure on winning a game, we’ll be dead a lot, but it’s an important game for us. We need a big crowd again to help us get back in the race,” he said. Score by quarters: Llano 11 14 12 14’51 Brady 8 5 4 7’24 Brady’s top scorers were Kati Hines 7, Danielle Snodgrass 6 and Kayce Pollok 4.
